"Cook"

"Cook," "help" these are some of Elli's favorite things to say lately. Of course she's never as much help as she wants to be, because she has a mind of her own on how she'll cook.

I set her up with a pot of dry beans and rice, thinking it would keep her entertained. Of course the rice and beans ended up throughout the house with carrots, garlic and Legos added to them.

Oh, I remember the days of another beginning cook. Outside, under a tree, making nsima and greens. Or in a toaster oven baking flour, salt and water. Maybe Elli will be a future gormmet cook like her mother! Now the question is, do you have to eat her cooking yet?

Love the Backyard Homestead! Malia said "Is that our house?" No, I said, it's Ethan and Elli's house. "They have a book just like yours!"
What were you cooking with the tomatoes?

I was blanching the skins off for whatever tomato based sauce of the day. Sure miss canned diced tomatoes, but will get to use my own canned stuff all winter. I think the Homestead was out for cream cheese purposes.
