Monday at lunch, we told Ethan and Elli that God had answered our prayer and Mommy has a little baby in her tummy. Their responses were precious! Ethan's eyes got wide and he said:
"Really? Praise the Lord!" As he thought more about it, he offered names (Emmet and Daniel) and talked about holding the baby, singing to the baby, kissing the baby, etc.
I'm not quite sure how much Elli understood, but she talked about rocking the baby and building a snowman for the baby.
That night (after the depressing news of no-eggs at the bazaar) we celebrated with peanut butter banana milk shakes. Bananas are 50c. a piece, so it was an all out special treat! Ethan asked if he could pray for the baby after we made our milk shakes. His prayer also included him getting bigger, going to school and obeying his teacher, and mommy not being sad when he goes to school. With all the change and excitement before us, we tried to give him a time line of when it will happen. He knows the baby comes after he starts school.
We've asked him not to tell any local friends until mommy's tummy gets bigger. They don't talk about pregnancy or babies at all here (for fear that people will realize the husband and wife are really having sex.) I can just see Ethan dropping the bomb to our favorite fruit sellers (2 young unmarried men) at the bazaar. So we'll see if he can keep his secret!

These are fun pictures! Especially because it help me piece together what your house looks like. I hadn't seen photos exactly from this point before. :)
Peanut butter banana shakes are one of my favorites! We will have to celebrate often when you are here. :)
It is fun to hear what the kids had to say. And it is good even for me to know that we don't "talk" about it. I will be careful. We are starting to eat smoothies too.
